Activity of this multidiscipline educational institution is based on knowledge and experience of leading institutions of higher education, specialists of designing, production and transport organizations and power-wielding agencies. Among lecturers of the ISTC are 65 % doctors of technical, economic and military science.

     Maximum effect of the training is provided with balanced unity of practice of lecturers and experience of highly skilled experts.

     There are different areas of training in the Centre, all of them have common base – support of security of the international transport system. Due to that fact in the ISTC it is possible to realize training of advisers on the transport of dangerous goods, International Ships and Ports Security specialists, container’s specialists, managers and engineers of industrial and transport companies, specialists engaged in operations of offshore oil-gas fields.

     About 750 specialists completed courses in the ISTC during 2004 – 2008.

     Specialists who have passed training on the program of advisers on the transport of dangerous goods are certified at the IDGCA which has consultative status in the UN ECE Sub – Committee of Experts on the transport of dangerous goods and which is recognized in the European Community as examination body.

     List of areas of training is constantly growing. So at the present time it is developed a new program of training of port specialists engaged in cargo handling operations, including operations with dangerous goods. The program takes into account port need in such specialists and covers questions connected with regulations of the ISPS Code and with other related documents.

     The courses are carried out in Saint – Petersburg.
